Fixes and Workarounds

Fix 1 — Boat Sinking Through Ground / Ice

This is a long-standing Bedrock bug (MCPE-65303). Workaround: always exit your boat while it’s still on open water, not on ice or solid terrain. If you’ve already sunk, use /kill @e[type=boat,r=5] in a world with cheats to remove the stuck entity and craft a new boat.

Fix 2 — Passenger Teleported Out (Server Lag)

On multiplayer servers, reduce your entity and chunk render distances under Settings → Video. If you’re hosting, increase server RAM allocation and ensure TPS stays near 20. For Realms, check the Realm status page on help.minecraft.net for ongoing outages.

Fix 3 — Stuck in Boat / Cannot Dismount

Bedrock: Tap and hold the dismount button (Shift on PC, crouch button on mobile/controller). If completely stuck, open the game menu and Save & Quit, then rejoin — this usually forces a position reset.

Java: Press Shift to exit. If blocked by a block, open your inventory (E) while in the boat; this sometimes forces dismount.

Fix 4 — Boat Breaks Instantly

Never place a boat adjacent to cactus blocks, bubble columns, or magma blocks underwater — these destroy boats on contact. Avoid dragging boat items near these blocks in your hotbar during placement.

Fix 5 — Boat Desync on Multiplayer

If your boat appears to be moving on your screen but others see it in a different position, the server’s entity tracking is lagging. Solutions: reduce your movement speed temporarily, or have the server operator run /gamerule randomTickSpeed 3 to normalize processing. Reloading the chunk with /forceload can also help.
